Fabrizio Cotognini, Whispers
Text: Marina Dacci

Hands like telescopes

Hands like probes

Catch voices and forms

Scratch the paper

Again

And again

To remind us

The deep space of feel

To remind us

The float in not-time

Solve et coagula

The hope

It is possible to keep an ear out to listen to old tales.

Extracts of history and myths, literature pages, evidences that whisper stories.

With the outstretched hand like a bow in order to catch the spirit of a past time, true or just imaginative.

It is possible to uncover it after a gaze on the present time.

The hand of Fabrizio Cotognini is visionary and creates a layering of mental images which mock time and space.

Images that create an immersion in lively tales, almost solid and impossible to avoid,

captured in theatrical sceneries similar to spider’s webs in which the ancient word

Mirabilia is in command.

Mirabilis is the virtual frame of all his works: Each image is extraordinary because it implies the infinite possibilities of permutation in shape, which is able to create other infinite shapes other infinite stories.

The texture is thick and full of short circuits: his piece opens welcoming doors to a universe in which everything is possible and underminable in our mind.

Is Cotognini running after the spiritus mundi in this rewriting? That vital universal energy that embraces everything, every manifestation that gives sense to the term “eternal”?

We live absorbed in our time, but aren’t we all part of a not-time?
